Sunrise Mobile Locksmith — Frequently Asked Questions

Updated: November 2026

These are questions about how Sunrise Mobile Locksmith works — payment, ID, hours and guarantees. Questions about a specific service are answered on that service's page.

How do I pay?

After the door, car or safe is open, or the new lock works and you've tested it — not a dollar before. Pay in cash, by Zelle, with Google Pay or Apple Pay, or on any major card. Nobody from Sunrise Mobile Locksmith will ever send you to an ATM.

A key snapped off in my lock in Sunrise. Can you get it out?

Yes. Alex B. pulls the broken piece with extractor picks, usually without taking the lock apart, and the job is priced from $95, the same as a house lockout. If the cylinder was damaged getting it stuck, he rekeys or swaps it on the spot so you leave with keys that turn.

How do I know the call reached you and not a call center?

We pick up as "Sunrise Mobile Locksmith," and the person on the line is the technician or our own office, never a national dispatcher. If anyone answers a number from our site with just "locksmith," hang up and call (954) 287-8377 again.

Do you work with Sunrise landlords and property managers?

Yes: rekeys between tenants, master-key systems for a building, and condo units keyed to the association's master with the board's written approval. Each job is invoiced separately at the prices on our list.

Which ZIP codes do you cover in Sunrise?

Every Sunrise address in ZIP codes 33313, 33319, 33322, 33323, 33325, 33326 and 33351. A few of these ZIP codes cross into neighboring cities, so if you're not sure your address is inside Sunrise, tell us the street when you call and we'll say right away.

What ID do you need before opening my home?

A photo ID with the address, or a lease, utility bill or anything with your name and that address. If your ID is inside, we open the door and check it before we leave.

What do you need before opening a car?

Show a photo ID; the name should be the one on the registration or on the rental contract. If the papers are inside, we check them once the car is open.

Will I get a written invoice?

Yes, by text or email, with the business name, the work done and the total.

Is there a warranty?

Yes: six months on our workmanship. If a lock we fitted or fixed stops doing its job in that time, Alex B. comes back and puts it right without charging you. New locks also keep the maker's warranty — On a Schlage or Kwikset home lock, that means the mechanism and finish are covered as long as you own it, electronics for twelve months.

What won't you open?

A home or car when we can't confirm it's yours, and any lock where someone on site says you're not allowed in. In a landlord–tenant dispute we only work with the landlord's written instructions and within Florida law.

Can I get a quote by text?

Yes. Send a photo of the lock or the key and we'll text back a price.

Do you work on holidays?

Yes. We're open 24/7, Christmas and the Fourth of July included, at the same price.

Is Sunrise Mobile Locksmith a franchise or a call center?

Neither. It's a local business with its own technician in Sunrise.

Price and booking

Do you charge a service-call or trip fee?

No separate one. The first-lock rekey price of $95 already includes the trip, and lockouts are quoted as one job price: house from $95, car from $85. A quote built on a tiny "$19 service call" is the pattern Florida consumer offices warn about (Palm Beach County Consumer Affairs).

Is it more expensive at night or on weekends?

No. One price list, any hour. See all prices.

What if the price changes once the technician sees the lock?

You hear the new number before anything is touched, with the reason — a high-security cylinder, a broken part, a multi-point lock. You can say no, and if you turn the on-site price down, you pay nothing at all.

What if picking won't open it and drilling is the only way?

Your call. Decline the drilling and the opening attempt costs nothing.

Can I cancel after you're on the way?

Yes, free, as long as it's before the technician arrives. A neighbor found the spare? Just call or text.

How soon can you get here?

About 20 minutes is typical anywhere in Sunrise, from Sunrise Golf Village in the east to the Sawgrass side; we give you the exact time when you call and text it to you.

How do I get the invoice?

By text or email, itemized line by line, from alex@sunrisemobilelocksmith.com if you choose email.

Trust and paperwork

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — licensed & insured. Sunrise's city hall issued our Business Tax Receipt, and our CGL (commercial general liability) policy is active; we email the certificate to buildings that ask. Details on our About page.

Do locksmiths in Broward need a license?

General background for anyone hiring one: since July 1, 2021, Broward no longer issues locksmith licenses or keeps a locksmith register — Florida's HB 735 ended that — and the state has never had a locksmith license of its own (Broward County). What you can still check — a city Business Tax Receipt, insurance, a real name — is in our guide on checking a Broward locksmith.

How can I check a locksmith's Sunrise Business Tax Receipt?

The city's Business Tax Receipts page links to "Online Business Tax Receipt Inquiries," a searchable database, and the city's business tax line is (954) 572-2352. Search the business name from the invoice or the van. A receipt shows the business is registered with the city — it isn't a skills test, so still ask about price, ID and insurance.

Who do I call if I think a locksmith is scamming me, or someone tried to break in?

A break-in happening now, or anyone in danger: 911. For anything less urgent, the city lists (954) 764-4357 as the Sunrise Police number for non-emergencies (City of Sunrise Police). A price dispute with a locksmith goes to Broward's Consumer Protection office. After a break-in, once the police have been, we can rekey or replace the damaged lock.

Will the technician show ID?

Yes, at the door and before any work: his photo ID plus a business card, and the name on both matches the text you received.

Will you change the locks so a tenant can't get back in?

No. Florida law bars a landlord from blocking a tenant's reasonable access, and it names changing the locks as one of the ways that's forbidden (F.S. 83.67). For landlords we rekey between tenants, once the old tenant has moved out.

Do you work for landlords, property managers and condo boards?

Yes. Between tenants we usually rekey rather than replace. For condo rules, see condo lock changes.

Can you meet a vacation-rental guest who's locked out?

Yes. The host vouches for the stay — a quick text or call to us — and the guest shows a photo ID at the door. For empty-house jobs, someone the owner names in writing — a property manager, neighbor or cleaner — has to meet us there.

6:52 a.m.

Locked out? Call — the price comes first.

Same price at any hour. A Sunrise technician comes to you.
